Rules to play
USA Pickleball Association (USAPA) is an organization that governs this sport. It has published some rules which are followed when a sanctioned tournament is played. Recreational and non sanctioned matches can also adopt these rules.
- Double Bounce rule: The players can hit the ball in the air after it bounces twice on either side of the court. When serving team serves the ball to the receiver side, the serving team must remain in the serving line and wait till the ball bounces at their side again and then hit the ball in the air. This rule helps to provide long rallies in the pickleball game.
- No Volley Zone Fault: It is a court area of 7’x20 feet on both sides of the net. While volleying you cannot step into this zone as it is considered a fault. No belongings like hat, paddle etc must fall into this zone. It is quite a difficult rule for players of pickleball.
- Line calls: Ball can be contacted at any line except non volley zone line while serving otherwise it would be considered a fault. It is the responsibility of the players on either of the net to call the lines fairly and with honesty to avoid conflict on the court.
